Re: ‘Pickleball’s growth raises a racket in Victoria.’ Club president Connie McCann and her fellow members’ comments reek of an over-bearing sense of entitlement and ignorance. In reality, they are the ones who don’t have a ‘full grasp of the situation.’ I’d advise that they read a few of the numerous academic studies that reveal the harmful health effects of persistent and repetitive noise.

Couns. Braithwaite, Zhelka and Paterson moved Oak Bay further away from providing secondary housing options. Despite the carefully researched 100-page staff report indicating plenty of empty street parking in Oak Bay and despite the provincial Clean BC plan prioritizing active transportation and transit, requiring homeowners to either apply for special dispensation or build boarders or tenants a garage.

Thank you to Sidney mayor and council all for your diligent service to our community, especially during the OCP review. It’s clear you all hold sincere and heartfelt opinions regarding the issues of the OCP.

A delightful installation piece has recently been placed in Causton’s Green and we couldn’t be more pleased. The sculpture offers a sense of reverence; it feels peaceful and respectful as it stands between two ancient Garry oak trees. It suits the space perfectly.

I am a 31-year Cadboro Bay resident. I attended the Saanich planning department’s Cadboro Bay Local Area Plan (LAP) workshop at Goward House. Attendants were presented with four visions of the future of the village, all four providing for building four to eight storeys in a much-expanded area, far beyond the village core.

My wife and I moved to Sidney from downtown Victoria eight months ago.

The authors of two recent letters have taken whataboutism to a whole new stratosphere.

The Saanich School District and many school districts in British Columbia are in the very difficult position of having to reduce services to students and families because inflationary pressures are not being funded by the province. Unfunded inflationary pressure effectively reduces program funding for the 2022/23 school year by about $1.2 million in the Saanich School District (1.4% of the 2022/23 operating budget).

Is it not surprising and unusual (Saanich News June 8) that there are three major development proposals in a public hearing (PH) before Saanich council on June 21?
