I am writing in response to the inaugural All About Pets article about pet nutrition. First of all, I would like to applaud the idea of writing a column dedicated to the health and wellness of our beloved community pets. I feel obliged to address the theory that all pets benefit and require an ever-changing variety of foods and that “feeding the same thing for years” ends up causing deficiencies.

Local politicians are in a flap about chickens – and armed with degrees in egg-onomics – have decided to stake out a position on supply management.

Such a policy would set municipality back during a climate emergency, reader writes

When the first announcement of a proposed rezoning of a property next to Havenwood Park was made public, a petition was circulated and signed by almost 4,000 people overwhelmingly opposed to the proposed development.

Much has been written over the years about homeless people and it seems to fall on deaf ears at all levels of government.

My family was delighted to see that the crosswalk safety features at Bowker Avenue and Cadboro Bay Road are nearly completed. This has been an ongoing safety issue for many years for those who use this crossing, as traffic approaches this intersection at high speeds.

We have a catastrophe that is now landing at our doorstep here in Oak Bay and across Canada. War-torn refugees from Ukraine, mainly women and children, are landing in Victoria this week. Some of us have offered temporary accommodation with meals in our homes. These are strangers in need and we welcome them to safety.
