Finally, “the vision” from over 20 years ago can move closer to reality.

As a retired realtor of 40 years, I would beg to differ with Couns. Ney, Appleton, and Green about legalizing secondary suites in single-family homes. They feel that it shouldn’t matter whether the home is owner-occupied or has two separate renters.

Buried away in the 1,731-page Oct. 27 CRD committee-of-the-hole report (and I did not misspell that) is a link to another report from the regional parks committee with this recommendation: “The Regional Parks Committee recommends the Committee of the Whole recommend to the Capital Regional District Board that the annual land acquisition levy be used to implement a debt financing strategy for future land acquisitions.”

Regarding your story about the 2684 Selwyn Rd. covenant: it is important to note, and should have been included in the story, that the original owner, Douglas Jennings, was a decorated veteran. Sgt. Jennings lived on Selwyn Road since 1964 and placed two covenants on his property, once in 1998 and the latest one in 2002.

Victoria council should allocate more funds in the proposed 2022 budget to renew the city’s aging and critical infrastructure.

I’m sure everyone sitting in delays along the Island Highway really wishes there was a bike lane to take instead.

I’d like to thank the letter writers who have come forward on what has become a far-too-common occurrence on our public beaches and parks. Every time I visit my neighbourhood beach of Cadboro Bay I am witness to the dangerous behaviour of “friendly” off-leash dogs charging and jumping. Even dogs racing past my family and I at high speeds causes me great concern. How do I know if your “friendly” dog won’t suddenly turn on my children? Or knock them over accidentally?
