One man arrested, one in critical condition after Saanich lake assault

One man has been arrested by Saanich Police following an assault in Beaver Lake Park, which left one person in a "critical but stable condition," according to police.

Officers responded to a report of an assault in progress in one of the park's parking lots on Thursday (Nov. 21), at about 12.45 p.m.

According to a news release, at the scene, officers located a man with significant injuries who was later transported to hospital.

A second man was arrested who was held in custody overnight, and was scheduled to appear in court on Friday (Nov. 22).

"Our investigators believe this was a targeted incident as the two individuals are known to each other," noted Saanich police in the release.

Police say there is no risk to the public.
