If I could provide some positive aspects to growing gingko trees on Oak Bay Avenue, as planned by the Parks Department.

I would like to weigh in on the letter “Housing options needed to make North Saanich complete” regarding the development of North Saanich’s draft official community plan (OCP) where the writer implied that our area is “incomplete” without increased development. North Saanich is already a complete vibrant and caring community; one that continues to evolve and do its part locally in meeting the challenges around housing.

I have a few comments on the article: “Tesla sales, service centre rumoured for Langford.”

I felt that I had to respond to Ryan Gisler’s letter of Oct. 20. His suggestion that his taxes subsidize golf to a greater extent than “swims and gyms”, using rounded out figures and “free market” influences is quite simply, wrong.

Are we to be known as “Condominiums By The Sea” or “Sidney By The Sea”? The lack of clear leadership by the current council certainly doesn’t differentiate.

Slowly they come, marching steadily, their eyes fixed forward on a day they would summon all their waning strength to take part in.

North Saanich residents who are concerned about the process, and impartiality, of the official community plan (OCP) review have been labelled a populist NIMBY element and more recently a mob. However, here are a few facts:

Container losses, ship fires and the overarching trend of increasing vessel sizes – which makes ships harder to control and rescue along with more cargo and vessel to lose or damage – have conspired to create greater exposure for disasters.

During the public participation portion of the Oct. 18 council meeting, Mayor Stew Young cut several people off.

Having lived on the Saanich Peninsula for over two decades, the debate over North Saanich’s review of their official community plan (OCP) is both informative and interesting.
