LETTER: Victoria council’s priorities out of whack

LETTER: Victoria council’s priorities out of whack

Victoria’s mayor and council continue to blow through tax funds in a reckless manner. For example, they can find room in the budget to buy a cement ping pong table that nobody uses, to give a tax-free window for a private luxury condominium building in Victoria, and to continue building bicycle lanes on narrow streets in the James Bay area. And yet they continue to balk at providing proper increased funding for the police that will provide a safe and secure city.

LETTER: COVID with your coffee

Some cafes in B.C. are able to serve food wrapped for take-out such as salads, sandwiches, muffins, etc. suitable for a light lunch. The ambiguous finale of the World Climate Talks in Glasgow have left many of us a little raw. Not a success — but not a failure.

LETTER: Development a poor fit for Sidney neighbourhood

I wish to express my deep dismay at the recent proposal to redevelop the Cedarwood Motel property by Chard Development and GMC Projects.
LETTER: Development would dominate Sidney skyline

LETTER: Development would dominate Sidney skyline

Sidney’s seaside character is under threat. The enormous five-storey buildings proposed to replace the quiet Cedarwood motel on Lochside Drive would loom over the adjacent residential neighbourhood. But the many downsides to this project are not just local neighbourhood issues – they affect all Sidney residents and visitors.
