On May 18, Island Health once again started providing non-urgent scheduled surgeries, along with other health authorities across B.C.

The idea behind the expanding the walking zone on Beacon Avenue in front of the bakery and post office is a good one but in my opinion, comes up short.

I wish to congratulate the Saanich News for publishing the letter to the editor by Roan and Erickson. It is refreshing to see young folk sharing their concern, even their specific concerns, over their future.

Re: Central Saanich councillor proposes referendum on remuneration .

Re: proposed changes to Saanich’s unrelated occupancy limits. To say I am “gobsmacked” this amendment is being put forward now after COVID-19 and the consistent advice respecting social distancing, especially with people you don’t know, is putting it mildly.

Please, please, please improve the signage in MacDonald Park requiring dogs to be on a leash at all times.

The Galloping Goose is just one block away from my home. I used to walk on it very frequently, either with my husband or with friends. Unfortunately I no longer enjoy using it because of the volume of cyclists.

As we enter into the wildfire season on Vancouver Island, with some locals sadly getting a head start at the Comfort Inn site, residents are anxious to resume some summer activities in the “new normal.” One thing that certainly isn’t the new normal is Saanich council’s reversion on property taxes.

Regrettably, there is a movement both in this country and the United States against the police. Unfortunately there is a serious problem involving Black and Indigenous peoples.
