LETTER: Canada must do more to recruit foreign doctors

LETTER: Canada must do more to recruit foreign doctors

I’ve had a thought on the looming shortage of doctors and other health-care workers I thought I’d share. I understand there are many current immigrants in Canada that have medical degrees in their home countries that are not recognized in Canada, so they are taking other jobs instead of practising here.
LETTER: Community embracing the inclusion of South Asians

LETTER: Community embracing the inclusion of South Asians

Reflecting on some recent events, I’ve concluded that there may just be a paradigm shift to more diversity and inclusion for South Asians on the South Island.
LETTER: Few buy into city’s costly reconciliation fund

LETTER: Few buy into city’s costly reconciliation fund

While few residents have contributed to the city’s reconciliation contribution fund, that doesn’t reflect on the public support for reconciliation efforts.
LETTER: Bank robbery hostage grateful to all those who rushed to her aid

LETTER: Bank robbery hostage grateful to all those who rushed to her aid

To all police forces and first responders.
LETTER: Running from problem won’t help

LETTER: Running from problem won’t help

Clearly, letter writers Denise and Yolanda Corbett have learned nothing over the past two years from Dr. Henry’s ‘be kind’ mantra. Either they toned down their letter to the Peninsula News Review, or you wisely chose not to publish the part that was in their letter to the Times Colonist calling the homeless ‘bums’.
LETTER: Multi-storey apartments a poor fit for Cadboro Bay

LETTER: Multi-storey apartments a poor fit for Cadboro Bay

In response to Mr. Greave’s letter of June 29, I agree that some increase in housing density in Cadboro Bay may be needed to improve the diversity of housing options, however, I strongly disagree with his characterization of Saanich Planning’s recently proposed options to expand the village core as “moderate.”
LETTER: Don’t worry about others’ windows

LETTER: Don’t worry about others’ windows

I was reading Mary Hogan’s letter about cars with rolled-up windows, using AC, and I had to laugh. Clearly Ms. Hogan does not suffer allergies, have issues with exhaust, and has no problem with noise. She also clearly doesn’t have a kid in the back seat screaming about the wind in his face. Or a dog trying to jump out.
LETTER: Community benefits a two-way street

LETTER: Community benefits a two-way street

I read your recent article relative to a North Saanich councillor’s assertion that Sidney survives because of North Saanich. I quickly made sure of the date of publishing (June 30) thinking perhaps this was an April Fool’s joke.
LETTER: Carnarvon Park upgrades take back seat to pickleball

LETTER: Carnarvon Park upgrades take back seat to pickleball

This is in response to the article in the June 30 Oak Bay News, ‘Rubber Fencing Ok’d for Carnarvon pickleball court.’
LETTER: Deconstruction bylaw builds bureaucracy

LETTER: Deconstruction bylaw builds bureaucracy

The new deconstruction bylaw implemented recently by Victoria council will surely be a bureaucratic nightmare. Not only will this slow the demolition process, but the handling cost of materials salvaged also doesn’t make economic sense. Marketing these materials isn’t easy either.
